Nantucket's Council on Aging retained its officers and began exploring a bylaw overhaul to secure dedicated funding. Chair Robert M. Kucharavy said he will survey roughly 14 Cape Cod Councils on Aging on their governance and funding structures after member Linda Williams argued the board needs a clearer sense of its goals before seeking a budget increase or bylaw change, saying "we're only nine people, and most of us have full-time jobs." A staff member identified as Jericho outlined two paths forward: a bylaw amendment requiring town meeting approval, or a senior-services budget-line increase that would not require it.
Separately, member Erin Lynch previewed the October 17 Senior Expo, which will open with a new 45-minute panel on home care, advance directives and senior living options before vendor tables open at 10:30 a.m.; Nantucket Community Enrichment for Aging secured an $11,000 community foundation grant for the event. The board voted 7-0 to keep its current officers and welcomed new member Amanda.
