Nantucket Finance Committee spends 90 minutes on FY27 department budget pitches, takes no votes on the numbers. Department heads walked members through expense-increase requests including a $1.8 million jump in the solid waste enterprise budget tied to a new Waste Options service agreement, a roughly $100 million airport runway-shift estimate, and $30,000 to launch a tax-title revolving fund. DPW Director Drew Patno said his current facilities crew of seven is "simply just not enough manpower to effectively maintain all the town's facilities," while Airport Manager Warren Smith pegged runway-shift costs at "a hundred, a hundred million dollars." Finance member Anthonie Goudemond backed a new town project-manager position, calling project-management capacity "a high priority." The committee approved its agenda and adjournment unanimously but took no votes on the budget items themselves, with review continuing at its next meeting.
