NANTUCKET — The Nantucket Land Bank Commission approved a draft fiscal 2027 capital budget and deferred a decision on a memorial stone. Commissioners Mark, John, Neil and Christina voted unanimously on the budget, which includes $1 million contributed by the agency's two golf course properties, one posting 9 percent revenue growth in September and the other down 4 percent amid weather. The commission also approved a retroactive compensation adjustment for Executive Director Rachel after her annual review.

On a request for a memorial rock at Long Pond Landing honoring a conservation advocate's late partner, Trish, commissioner Neil said he favored "just adding her name" to an existing memorial rather than a new stone, but the board took no vote, asking staff to gather more information from the family and other conservation groups, who it said face similar requests. During public comment, a resident urged the commission to "put the brakes on" media coverage of the island's deer population.
