Nantucket Land Bank Awards $1.75 Million Deconstruction Contract for Jefferson Street Property

NANTUCKET — March 24, 2026 — Nantucket Land Bank awards $1.75 million deconstruction contract for 41 Jefferson Street. The commission voted unanimously Tuesday to award a contract to JJ Cardosi of Rhode Island, which submitted the lower of two bids at $1,747,000 against a competing offer of $2,578,000 from RB Hour — a gap of roughly $831,000 that commissioners attributed primarily to JJ Cardosi's use of Barrett Enterprises, a local family firm, as its hauling subcontractor. Executive Director Rachel Trager was authorized to sign all contract documents on behalf of the Land Bank, with a site visit scheduled for March 30 and a notice to proceed to follow immediately. The commission also approved warrant reimbursements of $31,320.45 for Miacomet Golf and $58,883.10 for Sconset Golf, and unanimously approved a bilingual educational rain garden sign for the Land Bank's Eastern Street property, designed by Morgan Rae and Claire O'Connor.
