Nantucket Community Preservation Committee approves six funding requisitions, moves to consolidate office staff. Meeting at 131 Pleasant Street, the seven-member quorum unanimously approved the agenda and six pending fund requisitions, including one tied to the Folger Block whose payment status members said they could not confirm without checking with the town's finance department. The committee is merging two office positions into one, roughly 30 hours a week at $45 an hour, after the departure of longtime staff member Glenna Stokes, who received a thank-you letter for her service.
The chair called a completed restoration at St. Mary's Catholic Church "a stunning project" and said members may nominate it for a preservation award. The panel is also seeking standalone town office space to keep its operations independent of the Nantucket Housing Authority, citing "optics" concerns raised by a town contact identified only as Stewart.
